CES 2013 Product Reviews

As usual, we saw some amazing products at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this month and we had a great time. But just because you weren’t promoting Google’s self-driving car or a new television set doesn’t mean we weren’t paying attention to your latest products. To prove our point, here’s a list of our favorite gadgets and technologies at CES 2013.

The CardNinja

Z
Straight out of Sunnyvale, California, the makers of the CardNinja have created a way for you to turn your smart phone into a traditional wallet. The CardNinja is a thin pocket that sticks to your phone, making it possible for you to carry your credit cards securely with your phone. We like the CardNinja because it’s practical and secure.

How secure? Very. Apparently if you flip it over, your credit cards won’t spill out. And if you happen to lose your phone (along with your precious plastics), you can detect its whereabouts by sending a text message to your number; CardNinja will automatically reply with its location.

So how does it work? Simply peel off the backing of the product and place it on the back of your phone, like a sticker. Next, use the CardNinja to carry all of your cards. It’s big enough to carry your credit cards, debit cards, IDs, and even cash.

Liquipel, Watersafe Technology for Cell Phones

It’s inevitable; somehow, somewhere, no matter how hard you try to avoid it, your smart phone drops into water. But what if you could coat your phone with an invisible layer of protection against liquids? Now you can. Introducing Liquipel.

Liquipel is a nano-sized layer of protection that sticks on the molecular level to your device. This invisible layer protects your product inside and out from liquid damage. How much liquid? The company offers three levels of protection, starting with the first layer that protects against light spills and splatters to the third and final level that protects against a swim in the pool or heavy rainfall. Finally, there is a way to protect electronic devices from water damage without “compromising the look, feel, or performance,” of the product.

The VelocityClip

Just about everyone has the power to film and direct movies these days, especially if your video camera is also your smart phone. Now you can take your movie-making skills to a whole new level with the Velocity Clip, a universal point-of-view camera system for your smart phone or compact digital camera.

The Velocity Clip is essentially a sturdy strap that makes it possible for you to mount your phone to your head, chest, or a hard surface. This means you can now film from virtually any angle. Most importantly, you can attach it to a wide range of lenses and take it with you on extreme activities, such as skydiving and mountain biking.

Whether you’re a citizen journalist capturing the latest news or the next Francis Ford Coppola filming your latest motion picture, the Velocity Clip is ideal for anyone who wants to film on the go, hands free.

Parrot AR. Drone 2.0

And now for a little fun. Parrot has done it again; the leader in wireless products for mobile phones has created an advanced UFO, the AR. Drone 2.0. With piloting capabilities via your smart phone, this better-than-your-average remote control helicopter can be flown indoors and outdoors by beginners and professional pilots alike, and performs impressive barrel rolls and loopings.

Of course, it’s not all about fun and games. The AR. Drone 2.0 also comes with real time HD video streaming and recording, allowing users to create perfect videos from the sky. Put it on Director Mode and get unique, smooth shots from above. Settings include white balance, exposure, and luminosity.
