Alexa: Three useful skills

One of the main reasons for the success of the Echo voice assistants are the skills. All you need to install or enable a skill is to use a voice command. It is the thousands of skills that make the platform hard to beat and remains a competitive advantage against Google Home and other voice assistants. With more than 15,000 skills in the store, it is difficult to find skills unless you look for something specific. Here are some of the best skills to get:

Deals

“Alexa, what are your deals?” – Will list out available deals for Prime members that you can only order through the Echo. One of the first products to appear as an Echo only deal was the first generation Echo Dot, which you could only order if you had an Echo.

Vacation

“Alexa, ask Kayak where I can go for $1500” – With the Kayak skill you can plan out your next holiday. When you ask Kayak for holiday options, you can do it with a budget, and you get a list of options that fit your target. You can also track and check prices on flights.

Ride

“Alexa, ask Uber to request a ride” – Both Lyft and Uber have Alexa skills that you can use to hail a car or check on the cost of a ride. You can ask either party how much it would cost to go from A to B. When you do get a car; Uber will debit the cost from your card like a normal Uber ride.
